Bukhara (Buxoro, Buhara, Bukhoro) is one of the most interesting city not only in Uzbekistan or Central Asia, but also in the world. City is very old and keeps its ancient history on every street and square.
City is as old as 6th century B.C. It knows Alexander the Great. It met Chenghis-Khan and survived many of invasions.
One of its early name is Numijent, and its current name comes probably from Sanscrit name for monastery vikhara |
