The North of Kyrgyzstan 10 Days/9 Nights
This tour will guide you around sightseeings and most popular places on the north of Kyrgistan. They include two lakes - Issyk Kul and Son Kul; silk road sights like Burana Tower; wild nature sights like Konorchak canyons, Skazka gorge, Jeti-Oguz gorge and Grigorievka gorgde; towns and cities like Bishkek, Cholpon-Ata, Karakol and Kochkor, including folklore show - shyrdak making (felt made carpet). | Tour Program:
Day 1 Airport – Bishkek Arrival in Bishkek, meeting with your guide and driver at the airport. Transfer to a hotel or guest house. City tour around Bishkek. Overnight in a hotel or guest house.
Visit Ala Too square, State History museum, Philharmonic and the statue of Manas, Victory square and ZUM (one of the main biggest department stores in Bishkek) where you can do some shopping.
Day 2 Bishkek – Chon Kemin After breakfast start driving to Chon Kemin valley (180 km, 2-2,5 hours). On route visit Burana Tower. Continue driving to Chon Kemin. In Chon Kemin hike or horse riding in the valley which is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Chui region. Dinner and overnight in the guest house or home stay.
Burana tower - the remnants of the ancient city of Balasagun which was established by the Karakhanids at the end of the 9th century.
Day 3 Chon Kemin – Kochkor In the morning start driving to Kochkor village (140 km, 2-2,5 hours). En route you will stop to visit Konorchak canyons. Continue driving to Kochkor village. Today you will have the chance to watch making of felt carpet (Ala Kiyiz) and experience folklore show at dinner. Overnight in a home stay.
Konorchak canyons were formed about one and a half to two million years ago. The canyons have romantic names like «Grand Canyon», «Bobsleigh»and «Skyskraper». Kochkor village is a small village surrounded by magnificent jailoos. For many travelers it is the best place to taste the traditional Kyrgyz lifestyle.
Day 4 Kochkor – Son Kul After breakfast transfer to Son Kul lake (120 km, 3-3,5 hours). Dinner and overnight in yurts.
Son Kul is situated on a treeless, high mountain plateau, and is surrounded by lush mountain meadows (jailoo). The place is best to know more about nomadic lifestyle which is so important to Kyrgyzstan history and culture. Here you will see hundreds of yurts (Kyrgyz dwellings) and try Kyrgyz national drink (kumiz).
Day 5 Son Kul – Tamga In the morning start driving to Tamga village located on the Southern shore of Issyk Kul lake (260 km, 5-6 hours). Visit Bokonbaevo village, stop at Skazka gorge. Arrival in Tamga in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight in a guest house.
Bokonbaevo village which is best place to watch eagle hunting show. Skazka (Fairytale) gorge is a small gorge with red and orange rock formations.
Day 6 Tamga – Jety Oguz gorge After breakfast transfer to Jety Oguz gorge (95 km, 1-2,5 hours). You have the full day to go for hike and enjoy the beauty of the area. Dinner and overnight in yurts.
Jety Oguz gorge is considered to be one of the most beautiful gorges in Issyk Kul region. There are famous red rock formations – “Jety Oguz” (seven bulls) and “Broken heart”. The gorge is famous for the thundering water falls, fancy rocks, coniferous woods and sub-alpine and alpine meadows.
Day 7 Jety Oguz gorge – Karakol After breakfast transfer to Karakol (40 km, 40 minutes). City tour around Karakol: visit Prjevalskiy museum, Dungan Mosque and Russian wooden orthodox cathedral. Free time. Overnight in a guest house.
Karakol is the largest town and the administration center of the Issyk Kul oblast that was founded by Russian settlers in the 1869. The name translates as «black hand». Prjevalskiy museum, Dungan Mosque and Russian wooden orthodox cathedral
Day 8 Karakol – Northern shore of Issyk Kul lake In the morning start driving to the Northern shore of Issyk Kul lake (180 km, 2-2,5 hours). On the way you will visit Grigorevka gorge. Picnic. Transfer to Cholpon Ata. Here you will visit famous collection of petroglyphs. Transfer to a hotel or guest house at the Northern shore of the lake. Dinner and overnight in a hotel or guest house.
Grigorievka gorge - the slopes of the gorge are covered with dense fir groves and littered with waterfalls. Cholpon Ata petroglyphs - Bronze Age settlement and ancient sacred place under open sky with stone paintings.
Day 9 Northern shore of Issyk Kul lake – Bishkek After breakfast transfer back to Bishkek (250 km, 3-3,5 hours). Free time. Overnight in a hotel or guest house.
Bishkek - capital of Kyrgyzstan, population around 1 million people.
Day 10 Bishkek – Airport Transfer to the airport. End of the services.
