| Tour Program:
Day 1 Osh Meeting in the Osh airport. Accommodation in the hotel. Lunch in the café. Excursion to the local history museum. Tour to Takht-i-Suleiman Mount (1106m): visit of a pagan priest settlement of the late Bronze Age (end the 2nd – beginning of the 1st millennium BC); tour to cult sites of fire worshippers’ priests that dated back to the late Bronze Age (late 2nd - early 1st millennium BC); visit to the Museum of Spiritual Culture where artifacts representing all major religions ever practiced on the territory of the South of Kyrgyzstan are displayed. The museum chambers are located in the caves of Takht-i-Suleiman Mountain; tour through caves and grottos of Takht-i-Suleiman; visit to Takht-i-Suleiman mosque located atop the Eastern rock (1030 m); tour along the open air petroglyphs gallery stretching along the foot of Takht-i-Suleiman mountain. The petroglyphs date from the late 14th - early 13th century BC. Dinner.
Day 2 Kojo Kelen village Excursion to the Osh bazaar. Lunch in a restaurant. Drive to Kojo-Kelen village (Great Hodja) (110 km). The road runs by the Papan reservoir; over 2 passes – the Papan (1700 m) and the Kojo-Kelen (3200 m), 2 canyons – Sharpyldak (Purling) and Chal-Kuiruck (Old tail) stretching 22 and 6 km respectively. Kojo-Kelen village is located in a picturesque place on the spurs of the Alay range at 2200 m.a.s.l. where the valley of the river Djiptyk – the left tribute of the Ak-Buura river – widens. By the upper edge of the village on the left bank of the Ak-Buura river take a breathtaking view of the orange rocks. You will stay overnight in the village guest houses, 2-4 people in a room, sleeping on toshoks (national mattresses). The latrine is outside. There are summer showers in the guest houses. But you can take a shower only during day time due to a considerable temperature drop at night. National dinner in the village guest houses.
Day 3 The Blue Grotto Hiking tour to the Red Rocks, the Blue Grotto and Kojo-Kelen Waterfall. Along the way halt to see a watermill. This technology of wheat thrashing is practiced by the local people for many a century. Peculiar Red Rocks of Kojo-Kelen embrace an area of over 300 square meters. Narrow canyons, waterfalls, fancy shapes of cliffs and rocks will offer you spectacular vistas. The Blue Grotto is located 1 km away from Kojokelen village on the northern spurs of the Alay range at 3100 m.a.s.l. The lake on the bottom of the grotto formed by pure spring water that is dripping down from the dome makes this grotto unique. Birches growing around, incredibly beautiful mountains, fresh air, forests, rivers, natural drawings on rocks make a harmonic enchanting unity. The grotto and its lake are the places of Muslims’ worship and pilgrimage. Kojo-Kelen waterfall is located at a distance of 3 km from the village. The waterfall cascades fresh mountain water descending over the rocks from a height of 50 meters Return to the village for lunch. Take a drive up to a jailoo (Kyrgyz summer pastoral camp) (2700 m).This jailoo is 20 km away from Kojo-Kelen village upstream the Jiptik river. On the jailoo you have a chance to learn a lot about the nomadic lifestyle of the Kyrgyz. You can participate in a yurt (national felt-covered tent-like dwelling) set-up. National dinner.
Overnight in yurts.
Day 4 Kojo Kelen village After breakfast see incredibly interesting, informative and authentic demonstration of felt and milk processing. Return to the village for a lunch. After lunch head back to Osh. Dinner at a restaurant. Overnight in hotel.
Day 5 Osh Breakfast. Then a walking tour around the Osh bazaar. Visit “Zolotaya Dolina” (“Golden Valley”) handicraft center where you will marvel at the fruit of ceramists’ workmanship and even try to create your own exclusive masterpiece. Dinner at the “Suleiman” chaikhana. Transfer to the airport.
