| Tour Program:
Day 1 Tashkent Reception at the Tashkent airport. Set out on a sightseeing tour around the city visiting the “Shakhids’” Memorial Ensemble, the Monument of Courage, Khazrat Imam Square, the Kafal Shoshi Mausoleum, the Barak Khan Madrassah. Check in to the Tashkent Palace hotel.
Day 2 Fergana After breakfast drive over the Kamchik pass, through the Angren coal pit, the mountain bazaar, Chust (visit a men’s tjubetei* maker house (*Uzbek national scull-cap)), Namangan (3 monuments that date from the 18th -20th centuries), Ahsy (visit medieval fortress on the Syrdaria river) to Fergana city.
Arrival to Fergana. Hotel accommodation.
Day 3 Kokand 08.00 Breakfast. Transfer to Kokand (90 km). Take a panoramic city tour visiting the Architectural Complex of Urda Khudoyarkhan (1870), the “Modarikhan” Mausoleum (1825), the “Dahma-i-Jahon” Mausoleum (1825). Visit the Kokand wood carving studio of Kadirjan Haidarov.
12.00/12.30 Drive to Rishtan (45 km). Visit the house-workshop of a ceramist, Rustam Usmanov, who will welcome you with lunch at his place.
15.00 Ride to Fergana to take a city tour (park, square, local history museum). Accommodation at the hotel.
Day 4 Osh Breakfast. Transfer to Margilan (10 km). Take an excursion around the city: visit the bazaar, houses-workshops of a silk weaver, a maker of Fergana women tjubeteis, a jeweler.
After lunch drive to the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border to the Dustlik check point halting in Kuva (medieval center of glasswork) and in Andijan to visit the Literature Museum.
17.00 Transfer to Osh (Kyrgyzstan). Accommodation at the hotel. Dinner. Take a walk around the evening city.
Day 5 Osh This morning the tour guide will point out the principal sights of Osh – city drenched in history. You will visit Takht-i-Suleiman Mountain, the Osh settlement (14th – 13th century BC), gallery of petroglyphs that date back to the late Bronze Age, the smallest Takht-i-Suleiman Mosque and the local history museum. After lunch you have a chance to browse around the 2000-year-old Osh bazaar. Visit the workshop of a craftsman who makes tandyrs (round clay ovens) that are used to bake national bread).
Day 6 Uzgen After an early start take a ride to the medieval south capital of the Karakhanids state – Uzgen town (70 km). Visit the architectural complex of 11th-12th centuries. Tour the rice fields where the renowned Uzgen rice “devzira” is grown. After visiting the Uzgen bazaar you will head back to Osh to have light lunch.
Visit a Kyrgyz family thereafter where you will learn a lot about the lifestyle of the Kyrgyz and see the process of cooking plov. Tasting of the famous oriental plov in the Kyrgyz national house will be a delicious conclusion to your tour.
Day 7 Osh You will be accompanied to the airport for your return flight.
